Final Press Release
The Salon des Artistes Membres
du WHO'S WHO Art club international (SAM)
in Brussels at Futurart with two exhibitions:
from 6th to 10th June and from 13th to 17th June 2007
The Salon des Artistes Membres du WHO'S WHO Art club international (SAM) has been held at Futurart, run by Mr. José Soto, to present a hundred and seventy-two of its artist members, coming from nineteen different countries, and all this within two exhibitions: one from 6th to 10th June and the other from 13th to 17th June 2007. It was a successful event and the numerous artists attending the two private views have been able to appreciate the quality of the venue and the warm welcome given to them. A very positive experience therefore, which calls for more. The SAM is thus destined to become a travelling salon. Owners and directors of showrooms in Europe - in particular ...., take note!
The WHO'S WHO Art club international gathers contemporary artists from different parts of the world, on the basis of the criteria stated in its Charter published on-line on www.whoswhoart.com, in order to make their works known in a publishing context and under the aegis of cultural places which are independent from the contemporary art market. It thus gives priority to the work, to the support given to artists and to the personal path chosen by each of them, depending on. their artistic skills. At the same time, it makes it easier for the public to gain access to an artistic development unconnected to market rules, without neglecting the up-and-coming art or unknown talent.
The artists are free to sell their work or not, and no commission is charged either by the WHO'S WHO Art club international or its agents. This also means that the audience is always in direct touch with the artist members, no matter what activities the WHO'S WHO Art club international organises to present them.
By choosing Brussels, the SAM reminded us of the artistic wealth of that city, while drawing bridges between its artist members and the Brussels audience, including among the actors, artists and cultural intermediaries who share the same values and have the same artistic commitments as those stated in the Charter of the WHO'S WHO Art club international.
A catalogue, containing numerous reproductions, has been published for the SAM. It is now available on-line, together with this press release and two slide shows, one for each exhibition. Members of the public can now continue the visit at any time and get in touch directly with their favourite artists.
The SAM goes on in the cyberspace ... until it gets to another city!
