The SAM 2012 at Giverny

There is a magic place in France which draws over 500,000 visitors between April and October: Giverny. In 2012, a new event will enrich the cultural programme of this historical, almost legendary village, dear to the painter Claude Monet: the next Salon of Artist Members and Friends of the WHO’S WHO Art club international (SAM) to be held from 5th May to 28th June 2012 at Galerie 60, a large exhibition room situated at the heart of the village, at nº 60 rue Claude Monet.
Much talked about locally, the programme, composed of eight exhibitions, and the excellent situation of Galerie 60 have already turned the event into a must in the Giverny cultural agenda.
The public will thus discover the SAM 2012 between the Musée des Impressionnismes and the Fondation Claude Monet where the painter’s house and its famous gardens can be seen. Or, on their way to the former Hotel Baudy, another famous place, where people like Cézanne, Renoir, Rodin, Sisley, Mary Cassat… and most of the American impressionist painters sojourned. In fact, the current proprietor is also the owner of Galerie 60.
Moreover, due to the large amount of visitors, the Claude Monet street is closed to the traffic at the weekend. A measure which has proved very popular.
The next SAM, organised during the best possible season, will present some artists coming from over ten different countries (enrolment of the artists who have been invited or recommended under way). Through their presence at the SAM 2012, these may relive the fervour described by the impressionist Master, filled with wonder just like today’s art lovers (who are coming from all over the world): ‘I am delighted, Giverny is a splendid place’.
Still under the auspices of Monet (who will be featured) and the charming village of Giverny (we shall recount its history), the SAM 2012 general catalogue will record the event by gathering numerous reproductions, with some details about all the works on show.
The works will be put up for sale directly by the exhibitors. No commission will be taken, either by the SAM or by the owner of Galerie 60, on the proceeds from the sales.
More information will be published on line until the opening of the SAM 2012.

The SAM 2009 at the Château d'Auvers (France)
A message of welcome from Mrs Marie-Cécile Tomasina, events organiser at the Château d'Auvers
The Château d'Auvers-sur-Oise, a property owned by the Val d'Oise Regional Council, is proud and delighted to welcome, for the first time at Auvers-sur-Oise, the Salon of Artist Members and Friends of the WHO'S WHO Art club international. For all the artists, this is a great opportunity to show their works and to get a feel of the emotion and of the light which is so specific to the Oise valley and which was so dear to the impressionists and to Vincent Van Gogh. This is also an opportunity to present the work of living contemporary artists and to contribute to their artistic development and fame.
